Marlene Cheatham, Democrat, Ossining Village Trustee

Marlene is a native of Ossining and a Graduate of the Ossining School System. Over the past 40 plus years she has grown to love and care for her hometown, the wonderful historic Village of Ossining.

Her history of involvement in volunteer organizations in the Ossining area include: Interfaith Council for Action (IFCA), The Recreation Advisory Board, The Spring Street Neighborhood Watch Association, Star of Bethlehem Church, and the Rehoboth Christian Church. Marlene along with other residents in the downtown area started the Spring Street Association as a way for the residents and the police department to partner together; from this union was the start of "Community Policing" in Ossining.

Marlene holds both a BS and MS degree in Psychology from Mercy College. This education gave her an excellent foundation for her professional and personal goals. Working for 20 years in various positions at Westchester Medical Center and for two years at the Westchester County Department of Social Services her duties included, but were not limited t helping, listening, advocating and resolving issues. Currently, Marlene is working at Croton Point Park where she continues to use her communication and advocacy skills on a daily basis.

In summary, providing a "voice" has been a way of life for Marlene. She is deeply committed to public service. Her ability and training will ensure that the people of Ossining have someone that is eager to listen and ready and willing to serve. Over the next two years Marlene will continue to work on the consolidation of various Town and Village Departments including the Highway/DPW departments, the Town and Village Courts and the Parks and Recreation Departments. She will work to improve the existing Town / Village Intermunicipal agreements. Lastly, Marlene wants to work toward creating a better Village government that will decrease the tax burden without decreasing essential services.
